Instructor Spotlight: Chef Reytam Baguilat

Master of Flavors — From Filipino Roots to Global Culinary Excellence

When it comes to versatility in the kitchen, few chefs carry the depth and breadth of experience that Chef Reytam Baguilat brings to the table. Proudly hailing from Ilocos, his culinary journey began with a deep love for Filipino delicacies and the traditional flavors of home. From native kakanin to the iconic Ilocano empanada, these early influences continue to shape his culinary identity and inspire the dishes he shares with his students.

With over 10 years of professional experience, Chef Reytam has mastered both local and international cuisines. His career highlights include serving as Sous Chef at Padre Cuccino in Macau, becoming a Certified Baker with expertise in French and Taiwanese breads and pastries, and earning recognition as a Guest Chef on UNTV. He also trained in Thailand, where he earned his diploma specializing in Thai cuisine and French pastry. These experiences expanded his skillset while always keeping his Filipino roots at the heart of his craft.

As the owner of Flavours of Asia Restaurant and consultant to various food businesses, Chef Reytam has built a reputation for excellence and innovation. Since 2015, he has dedicated himself to teaching, first in-person and later online, helping aspiring bakers and cooks develop their skills while encouraging them to embrace both Filipino food traditions and international techniques.

For Chef Reytam, food is more than just flavor—it is culture, identity, and pride. From the empanadas of Ilocos to the pastries of France and Taiwan, his journey proves that Filipino cuisine belongs on the global stage, celebrated and shared with the world.
